How public holidays affect pay and leave
Under the National Employment Standards, full-time and part-time employees are entitled to a paid day off on a public holiday that falls on a day they would normally work, and awards set penalty rates for those who work. A public holiday during annual leave is not deducted from the leave balance; the annual leave calculator uses these lists to count the days actually deducted.
