Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to a paid day off if a public holiday falls on a day they would normally work, at their base rate for the ordinary hours they would have worked. Employees who work the day usually receive penalty rates under their award or agreement. Casuals are not paid if they do not work. A public holiday during annual leave is not deducted from the leave balance.
